Brief History
Black Bear Lacrosse Club was founded in 2005 as a way to offer the local lacrosse community access to elite travel teams. Black Bear is currently based in Phoenixville, PA with a focus on serving the Southeastern PA region. Our clubs mission is to offer families quality coaching and instruction with a goal of developing better lacrosse players to compete at the highest level they desire.

Black Bear is the only club in the area that has a current or former high school varsity head coach mentoring every team on our roster. Our Staff has spoken at coaching clinics, has All-Americans, Coaches of the Year, Players of the Year, Former Team Captains, and a passion to serve their local communities. What separates Black Bear from every other club is the quality coaches our club provides across the program. Black Bear is the first club in our area to hire current and former High School Varsity Head Coaches for all teams. Black Bear looks to give our families and players what they desire most: Passionate, Enthusiastic, Knowledgeable Coaches who come from the same communities our kids come from.

Black Bear is committed to helping every player reach their fullest potential through offering quality instructional programs throughout the year such as our summer camps (K-8th), instructional box lacrosse clinics (powered by the AILA), and the Black Bear Lacrosse Academy’s position specific training to allow the novice, intermediate, and advanced player to take their game to the next level.

This Season’s Outlook
So far this summer the club has taken two championships (2019 and 2021), 4 semi-final appearances (2019, 2020, 2022, 2021) and reached three championships (2019, 2021, 2023). We’ve for the first time expanded to the 3rd/4th grade level (2026/27) with a goal of creating a U-9 (2nd/3rd grade) development program for the 2018/19 year. one of our assistant coaches, Tommy Belmont, was recently hired as the new Head Coach at Mastery Charter School in Philadelphia making him the 7th current/former head coach on our staff. The outlook of our club is a program on the rise that is offering our local lacrosse community access to more programs.
