Club Spotlight: Riverfront Rattlers

In the first edition of our club spotlight series, we want to take a closer look at one of the newest Lax Federation member clubs: the Riverfront Rattlers.

Founded in 2019, the Riverfront Rattlers have already built a strong group of players ready to compete at lacrosse tournaments across the country thanks to the tireless work of club director Jordan Montesano. The Rattlers are a club lacrosse program based out of Scranton, Pennsylvania which is probably more well known for a certain hit TV show that takes place there, but the Rattlers are doing their best to turn Scranton into a lacrosse town.

Most of the Rattlers players come from the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area in Northeast Pennsylvania. They currently field teams ranging from 2021s to 2028s and younger.

Club Director Jordan Montesano has gotten off to a great start in year one.

Why did you start the Riverfront Rattlers?

“Lacrosse is new to the area and we wanted to give student athletes a fantastic year round experience with balance of skill set training and character development.”

What is the Rattlers’ philosophy when it comes to helping players develop their skills?

“Our goal is to set our student athletes up for continued success on and off the field in their next chapter of life. Located out of Northeast Pennsylvania, we offer clinics and elite club teams for youth through High School age groups. As a program we put an equal amount of focus, teaching, and training into character development as we do lacrosse skill set. Using the foundations of “Living Life in 3D” and “The 3Key Tree,”we are building solid core foundations in our student athletes that benefit them for a lifetime. We are a new club program starting in 2019 and are excited to continue the growth of the game and embrace the lacrosse culture.”

How do you help your players who want to play at the next level?

“We offer year round training and seminars to help prepare our families for the process”

Why did you join the Lax Federation?

“Joining the Lax Federation gives us the opportunity to have a great environment and experience for our families”

The Riverfront Rattlers competed at the first ever Lax Federation Member’s Cup this past summer. Lax Federation wishes the Riverfront Rattlers the best of luck this upcoming fall and in year two as they continue to grow as a program.
